Makapo and the Newport Aquatic Center are proud to offer the first inclusive adaptive outrigger paddling team for youth with disabilities, the NAC/Makapo Jr. Outrigger Team!

The team welcomes not only youth with disabilities ages 6 to 17, but also their sighted siblings and friends. Practices begin in April and last through the summer.

For those with other disabilities and who require additional support while paddling, Makapo also offers the NAC/Makapo Keiki Krew Krewzers Team.

$60 per child each month
10% discount for multiple family members

*A one time annual $15 per child registration fee will be billed separately at the first practice.

Team Details

The NAC/Makapo Jr. Outrigger Team begins in April of 2019 and runs through August. Practices are on Saturday mornings and are offered in four (4) week blocks payable monthly.

The cost per team member is $60 per month, and we offer a sibling discount of 10% per month. Practices are held at the Newport Aquatic Center in Newport Beach, CA, and last 90 minutes. Scholarships for families are available based on financial need.

Team members will be coached by experienced outrigger paddlers, assisted by trained volunteers, and will learn about the history of outrigger paddling, All equipment, such as life vests and paddles, will be provided.

CANCELLATION POLICY

A full refund will be issued if cancellation is requested prior to the meeting of the first practice of the month. No credits or refunds will be made after the first practice with the exception of cancellation by the Newport Aquatic Center or Makapo for reasons due to weather or safety.
