Designed For and By the BLV Community

We have embraced the process of including the BLV in the design process of CoOP.

WHICH CANOES WORK WITH COOP

We have successfully installed CoOP on all current and legacy Puakea Designs OC1 canoes.  We also have used CoOP on the Kai Wa'a Draco, utilizing both single and double ama configurations. Currently, the Volare, Kahele, and Draco are being used by our paddlers.  We can easily adapt the system for any OC1 or OC2.

Balancing Agency and Safety

Is CoOP only for competitive paddling?

In its current iteration, CoOP is designed for BLV paddlers wanting to train and compete on one-person canoes (OC1s).  As we grow awareness and adoption by the BLV community, recreational paddling applications will be introduced.  These features have been shared with us from the very beginning of our design and production process and are currently in development.

Let's GO!

Getting CoOP and Training

Makapo has priced CoOP at $750 for the system and training.  Training is conducted at the Newport Aquatic Center, in Newport Beach, CA.  In-person training is the key to effective and safe paddling for the BLV paddler.

The price of the system includes training for three (3) operators maximum.  We are open to having a discussion to visiting you at your home club, if preferred.

Makapo has developed CoOP, related procedures, and associated systems since 2018.  Over those years, we've gathered all our experiences and have created a complete training program that accompanies the unit so everyone on your team can be confident once you start using CoOP.
